Update: SOS hired an Information Security Manager. SOS leveraged services from partnerships to enhance security protections. SOS onboarded a second vulnerability scanner to ensure all vulnerabilities are identified and remediated. SOS provided training and workshops with SOS staff and County Election Administrators to enhance security awareness and practices at the local levels.

Replace outdated voter registration and election system.
Update: The new voter registration and election management system will be implemented in January 2023. SOS incorporated security risk management processes in the development of the new system to ensure the system meets NIST standards.

Continue partnership with SITSD Security, DHS, National Guard, MS-ISAC, EI-ISAC to stay informed of potential vulnerabilities and create mitigation strategies.
Update: SOS has successfully leveraged partners to provide security control and vulnerability assessments, election tabletop exercises, and timely notifications of threat intelligence. SOS, in corporation with partners, educated county election administrators of the security resources available to them. SOS continues to participate in the Election Security Workgroup with DOJ MATIC, SITSD, FBI, National Guard, and CISA to enhance election security through cross collaboration.
