Objectives

  • Redefine/improve Service Management process
    Update: Implemented a helpdesk call center line to make contacting tech support easier.
  • Implement our Enterprise Architecture Program.
    Update: Identified the agency criteria and conditions to allow the Director's office to review, approve, and prioritize technology projects.
  • Expand Project Management capability beyond IT projects.
    Update: The agency's PMO began offering business workflow documentation services and providing business analysis for GIS projects.

Objectives

  • Continue to eliminate data silos by providing secure central repositories for data collected by individuals and programs.
    Update: This is an ongoing objective. Agency is currently working on implementing the facilities maintenance system to centralize all maintenance information in a single source.
  • Develop a Geo-spatial strategy.
    Update: Strategy has been developing. Working on the implementation plan.
  • Ongoing cybersecurity awareness, including mitigating security vulnerabilities, monitoring systems, traffic and logs, and reviewing security plans.
    Update: Continuing to share timely security information with employees. Strongly encouraged agency staff to complete the cybersecurity awareness training.

Objectives

  • Educate staff on the availability and functionality of existing FWP IT resources.
    Update: Provided and updated a list of agency technical and GIS resources. Developed a welcome email with tech support contract information and a list of common resources used by employees.
  • Ongoing cyber-security education and awareness.
    Update: Encouraged all staff to complete the annual cybersecurity awareness training.
  • Focus on providing a consistent positive experience for our customers by understanding their business processes and listening to their concerns.
    Update: This is an ongoing effort. Working on reaching out to more employees when solutions are submitted instead of needs.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with our internal and
    external customers.

    Update: Participated in several agency brown bag sessions to help education staff on IT systems and services. Attended agency Citizen Advisory Committee meetings to understand their technical needs from the department.

Update:

Objectives

  • Oversee IT projects to ensure they are within the budget, the scope, and the timeline.
    Update: Worked very closely with our vendors to avoid unnecessary change orders and scope creep to ensure projects were completed in a timely manner.
  • Provide accurate project budgets to the Technology Steering
    Committee to ensure projects are prioritized correctly based on Agency objectives and budgets.

    Update: Time spent on projects and tickets is tracked to allow the division to provide better estimates as part of the project scoping.
  • Remove Divisional and Regional boundaries within projects to
    decrease the chances of duplicate systems and services.

    Update: Project requests are being viewed at the agency level instead of the division or regional level by the Director's Office.

Objectives

  • Provide Technology Services Division staff the opportunity to
    experience FWP field work to help connect them with the resources we protect and the customers that we support.

    Update: This goal has been difficult during the pandemic. Field staff are often working alone and some staff are not comfortable working in close proximity. Working on this in the future.
  • Maintain current career ladders and ensure career ladders are in place for all positions in TSD.
    Update: Career ladders have been created for a majority of the positions in TSD.
  • Explore creative ways to maintain and improve employee morale that don't rely on monetary rewards or incentives.
    Update: Focusing on celebrating our successes and recognizing all of the contributes made by staff to daily operations or projects.
  • Ensure training for technical skills and soft skills is available to improve productivity and communication within TSD.
    Update: Need to work to improve on this objective. Some training is occurring but on the individual level and not focused on the entire division.
